Internships
Internship #1
During my first internship, I went to Mrs. Mullin's fifth grade class at Stanley Elementary. I had the pleasure of spending six whole weeks with this class. Right from the start, I felt like I fit right in; it sometimes even seemed that it was my own class because I was doing so much teaching. These kids were so sweet and I created a bond with them that was absolutely amazing. During my time with them, I got to teach three of my own lessons, shadow a student, interview Stanley Elementary's principal, and meet with my internship teacher and the other fifth grade teachers for a PLC meeting. I absolutely loved being with these students and I also loved observing Mrs. Mullin's teaching style. Observing Mrs. Mullin taught me a lot about teaching. I am beyond happy that I got to have this experience with these amazing students and such a wonderful teacher!

Internship #2
During this internship period, I went to a 1st grade classroom with Miss Santa Maria at Stanley Elementary. At first, I was very skeptical because I did not think that I would ever want to teach students who were this young. I always thought I would want to teach 4th or 5th grade, but this internship completely changed my outlook on teaching. I got to build relationships with some of the cutest kids I have ever met, and not one of them was anything less than a sweetheart. They made me feel very welcome in their classroom and they were so much fun to work with. During this partnership, I also got to teach them three lesson plans but this time I included rubrics, I got to shadow a student, go to a PLC meeting, and interview Miss Santa Maria and ask her what advice she would give herself as a first year teacher. Now that I have been able to experience a first grade class, I have now decided that I would rather work with younger students such as first or second grade rather than fourth or fifth. Working with these kids has made a huge impact on my life and I am so glad I got to spend those six weeks with them!
